The Truth Stops Here

Project: The Truth is Here
Role: Choreographer and Movement Director
Theatre: Esher Theatre
Director: Sophie Flack

Production Overview

Set in the 1940s with a modern pop score, The Truth is Here blends period storytelling with contemporary staging and music to tell the poignant story of the Bethnal Green tube disaster. Directed by Sophie Flack, with music and lyrics by Anthony Merryweather and a book by Nick Paterson and Emma Woodhouse, the production explores both tragedy and resilience, capturing the emotional depth of this historic event.

Choreography Approach

As the choreographer and movement director, I crafted choreography that honored the era while aligning with the modern pop score, blending vintage 1940s social dance with contemporary movement. Working closely with the creative team, we focused on choreography that would heighten the narrative’s emotional impact, using precise, expressive dance sequences to bring out the characters’ inner worlds. Each step and movement was carefully designed to complement the music, reflecting the production’s themes of hope and loss.
