Production Overview
Rock of Ages, a high-energy musical celebrating classic 1980s rock anthems, was performed by third-year degree students at Performers College. Choreography Approach
As the choreographer, I collaborated closely with the director and musical director to create routines that brought the story and music to life through bold, dynamic movement, allowing each student to showcase their technical skill and performance quality. Each piece was crafted to reflect character personalities, using stylized rock-inspired moves that enhanced storytelling, while iconic 1980s dance styles aligned with the show’s retro aesthetic. High-energy ensemble work unified the cast, conveying the raw intensity of rock music. This production gave students valuable experience, refining their ability to adapt choreography to character and blend technical skill with bold stage presence.
